BALTIMORE – Maryland corrections officials say they've made changes to ensure no more prisoners are mistakenly released.
Raymond Taylor walked out of a Baltimore prison last Thursday after swapping identification cards with his cellmate. He was captured the next day in West Virginia. Taylor is serving three life terms for attempted murder.
Officials say inmates will no longer be released from a facility in Baltimore that houses inmates in transit or awaiting court appearances.
Instead, they will be released from a different facility across the street. And they'll have to go through a fingerprint scanner to verify their identities.
Officials say the new scanner, which cost $1,500, is already in use at the Baltimore prison, and scanners will be put in place at other facilities.
