Bush to Meet with Senior Iraqi Shiite Leader Monday
WASHINGTON – President Bush will meet with one of Iraq's top Shiite leaders at the White House Monday.
The meeting comes after Bush's trip to the Middle East where he met with other senior Iraqi leaders, including Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Jordan.
The president will hold talks with Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim, leader of the United Iraqi Alliance, which is the largest in the Iraqi parliament, said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council.
"President Bush looks forward to an exchange of views and a discussion of important issues facing Iraq today," Johndroe said.
Al-Hakim will also meet with members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday, an aide to Sen. Richard Lugar tells FOX News.
Bush has a scheduled January meeting with the Sunni vice president, Tariq al-Hashemi, according to senior administration official.
