Bus Falls Into Chinese River, Killing At Least Two
BEIJING – A bus carrying junior high school students ran off a road and plunged 350 feet into a river in southwestern China, killing at least two children and leaving 22 people missing, a government news agency reported Thursday.
The bus missed a turn in a road and fell into the Niulan River on Wednesday afternoon in Zhaotong, a city in mountainous Yunnan province, the Xinhua News Agency said.
It said 20 students, a parent and a teacher were missing.
Nine students, a parent and the bus driver were hospitalized with serious injuries, Xinhua said.
The cause of the accident was under investigation, the report said.
