Universal Studios is offering an explanation for why it decided to use a real number as the one that's displayed when "God" leaves messages for Jim Carrey's character in Bruce Almighty.
Universal says the number doesn't exist in Buffalo, NY, where the movie is set. But the movie is being seen nationwide -- and several people have found the number is active in their part of the country. A database search turned up more than 30 listings nationwide for the number. Usually, movies and TV shows use a 5-5-5 exchange since the number isn't used for homes and businesses.
Now, can someone explain how a real act of god -- all the rain around the country -- let Bruce Almighty make twice what it was supposed to at the box office?
And now American Idol stars Clay and Ruben have appeared on everything but the Juiceman infomercial, can they get a little rest please? Ruben looks like the next time he sits down he'll have to be airlifted. Let him go to bed.
