HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A brain aneurysm killed a former Holland, Mich.-area woman on her wedding day in California.
Twenty-six-year-old Amy Lynn Slenk died on May 25, the day she married longtime boyfriend Cole Handley in a Soledad, Calif., vineyard.
Diane Slenk of Ottawa County's Holland Township tells The Holland Sentinel her daughter was enjoying "the happiest day of her life" when she collapsed at her wedding reception.
She says doctors in California told her that her daughter's medical condition was a pre-existing aneurysm that could have erupted at any time.
Amy Lynn Slenk moved to the West Coast to pursue international studies and Japanese at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore.
She met her husband, a Soledad native, during their freshman year.
