A 13-year-old boy who had just broken up with his girlfriend stabbed himself in his U.K. school in front of horrified classmates, the Daily Mail newspaper reported.
The boy, who was not identified, reportedly walked in to the classroom, told his girlfriend, “I know you don’t love me,” and stabbed himself in the stomach with a small kitchen knife in front of about 30 other students and a teacher, according to the Mail.
The boy was rushed to a local hospital where he had emergency surgery. He was listed in serious but stable condition, the paper reported.
“We are deeply shocked by this tragic incident at our school, and our immediate and paramount concern is the welfare of the injured student and those who witnessed the incident,” the school’s principal, Andrew Davis told the Mail.
