MIAMI – Bond has been set for a 16-year-old Broward County teen accused of lighting another teen on fire.
A judge set bail Friday at $250,000 for Jesus Mendez. He's one of three teens charged as adults with second-degree attempted murder in the burning of Michael Brewer. The other two remain in jail without bail. Mendez was the first to have a hearing to request bail.
Authorities have said the boys confronted Brewer in October at an apartment complex. He was left with burns on about 65 percent of his body.
The 15-year-old Brewer has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
