A bomb exploded in a city mosque in a volatile area of eastern Iran near Pakistan, causing minor damage but no casualties, Reuters quoted the Fars News Agency as saying.

"The aim of this bombing was to create fear," local police official Salah Asgarpour told Fars.

The blast occurred in the Al-Ghadir mosque in Zahedan, capital of Sistan-Baluchestan province, where Iranian security forces often clash with drug smugglers and bandits.
