If you’re ready for a new bikini and you loved the suits you saw in our videos, then it’s time to start shopping. If swimsuit shopping is stressing you out, no worries. Follow these bathing suit dos and don’ts and you’re destined to look your best at the beach this summer.

Dos

1. Do mix and match.

Buy two get two free! Try mixing and matching tops and bottoms to create the look of a whole new suit. Stick to colors in the same color scheme.

2. Do own a classic black suit.

What's the one color that never goes out of style? Black! It's slimming, classic and looks great on everyone.

Style Guide favorite:
Calvin Klein black bikini $130
** available at select Macy's

3. Do try a one-piece.

Some suits are sexy but impossible to swim in. This summer's one-piece suits are not only functional but some of the prettiest styles around.

Style Guide favorite:
Michael Kors orange/brown paisley one piece $138
** Available at select Macy's

Don'ts

1. Don't go unsupported.

If you have a large bust, the best swimsuit is the one that keeps you covered up. There's nothing wrong with a little cleavage but a suit with cups can make a big bust look better.

2. Don't confuse sexy with skimpy.

Sometimes it's better to leave some things to the imagination! Stick with suits that flatter your figure, not ones that reveal too much.

BCBG lavender bikini w/ ruffles $122
