Atlanta Tipsters Help Catch Chinese Fugitive Accused of Killing Wife, Abandoning Child

Federal officials say a 53-year-old Chinese man who allegedly killed his wife in New Zealand, then was caught on camera abandoning his daughter at an Australian train station was captured Thursday in suburban Atlanta.

A news conference was scheduled in Los Angeles Thursday afternoon.

James Ergas of the U.S. Marshal Service says Nai Yin Xue, who had been sought in the September slaying of his wife, Anan Liu, was captured after residents of an apartment building in Doraville recognized him in a Chinese newspaper and called police, said

Ergas says Xue is being held in the DeKalb County Jail pending a hearing on Friday in U.S. District Court in Atlanta, Ergas said.

Benny Estorga of the Marshal's Service says Xue flew to Los Angeles from New Zealand.

Tips from viewers of television's "America's Most Wanted" led investigators to Texas, Mississippi and Alabama, Estorga says.
