Law enforcement officials say a small aircraft has struck the headquarters of Austria's police commando unit in what appears to be an accident.

Police Col. Rudolf Golia says the private plane crashed into the building, which is located near an airport south of Vienna. He says the pilot and any other people on board were likely killed.

The building's roof was set ablaze by the crash Tuesday, he said. Police and firefighters were on the scene.

The building serves as headquarters of Austria's elite "Cobra" unit.
