Air Force Says F-16 Pilot Died in Arizona Crash

The Air Force says the student pilot of an F-16 fighter jet has died in the crash in western Arizona.

A spokeswoman for Luke Air Force Base says crews searching the area for the plane's wreckage confirmed the pilot's death on Saturday. His jet went down a day earlier while was practicing air-to-air combat.

Base spokeswoman Mary Jo May says crews found the pilot's parachute and some of his gear near the wreckage about 80 miles northwest of Phoenix.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
