Cynthia Rodriguez spent $100,000 on A-Rod's credit card in Paris to get revenge for his "affair of the heart" with Madonna, Alex Rodriguez's friend told the New York Daily News on Monday, hours after she filed for divorce from the Yankee third baseman.
"She's been spending wildly," a friend of the baseball star told the News. "She spent close to $100,000 on her jaunt to Paris."
Cynthia, 35, flew the godparents of her daughters and their older daughter first-class to the City of Light, the friend said. There, Cynthia "had spa treatments, she went to the best restaurants," the A-Rod friend said. "She originally was going to head to Spain, where Lenny Kravitz was touring."
In divorce papers filed Monday in Miami-Dade County Family Court, Cynthia accused A-Rod, 32, of "extramarital affairs" and called their six-year marriage "irretrievably broken."
Cynthia did not name names in her six-page petition. Her lead lawyer, Earle Lilly, denied speculation that Rodriguez had a sexual relationship with Madonna, 49, calling it "an affair of the heart."
It wasn't "sexual infidelity," Lilly told People.com.
Madonna adamantly denied she broke up the Rodriguez marriage by using kabbalah to brainwash A-Rod into believing they are soul mates.
Madonna, whose marriage to Guy Ritchie is also reportedly on the rocks, ignored reporters' questions as she left her Manhattan apartment, about an hour after getting a visit from actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
Meanwhile, a source told the Daily News that former Scores stripper Joslyn Morse could be dragged into court to tell the judge what she knows about A-Rod.
Cynthia and A-Rod have been married for more than five years. She has asked for primary custody of their two children — Nathasha Alexander, 3, and 2-month-old Ella Alexander — as well as child support and alimony.
Rodriguez is in the first season of a $275 million, 10-year contract with the Yankees, a deal that allows him to earn up to $305 million. He made $185.45 million from 2001-7 from his contract with the Texas Rangers and Yankees.
