A diabetic woman who estimates she weighs 700 pounds is pleading for assistance which she says is blocked by her size.

Karen Ferguson told Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT Monday night that she has a broken ankle, but because of swollen feet, can't wear a medical boot.

She said nursing homes who claim problems with Medicare have turned her down. She fears she'll be left to alone in her home, unable to move, her bed sores festering and her body deteriorating, the station reported.

She said she believes her size is the real reason she was refused nursing home assistance.

Ferguson said she hasn't been out of her trailer in northwest Tarrant County for a year and rarely leaves the large chair built to bear her weight.

She fights her fear with religious faith.
