Authorities say four people are dead after a small plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Holbrook airport late Wednesday afternoon.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the twin-engine Beachcraft Bonanza had flown from Santa Rosa, Calif., to the northeastern Arizona town of Holbrook to take on fuel and was headed to Lago Vista, Texas, which is near Austin.
Gregor says the plane crashed a quarter-mile east of the Holbrook airport at 5 p.m. MST and caught fire on impact.
He says all four people aboard the plane were killed.
The names and hometowns of the victims were not immediately known, but Gregor says the plane was registered to a Texas resident.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
