A dentist and two other workers suffered burns, including one employee critically hurt, in a fire at a dental office in Austin.

Emergency personnel responded late Wednesday morning to a fire at Elite Dentistry.

Austin-Travis County EMS spokesman Warren Hassinger says a caller reported an equipment fire in the dental treatment area. Hassinger told The Associated Press that he had no information to indicate the accident involved a patient.

Hassinger says a 25-year-old dental technician has "extensive burns" because her scrubs caught fire. She was transported to University Medical Center. Hassinger described her injuries as critical, with burns over more than 20 percent of her body.

Hassinger says two other male workers have minor burns, including a dentist transported to University Medical Center.

The cause of the fire is sought.
