A train ran into group of railway workers in eastern Shandong province, killing 18 and injuring nine others, officials said Friday.
The accident happened Wednesday when the workers were replacing railway tracks near Anqiu city, the State Administration of Work Safety said in a notice on its Web site.
The high-speed passenger train was traveling from Beijing to the port city Qingdao in Shandong. No other details were given.
