An eleven-year-old has been given probation for striking another Tavares Middle School student with pellets from a home-made slingshot.
Kevin Cottle was found guilty two weeks ago of misdemeanor battery. He spent four nights in an Ocala juvenile detention center after the February incident that left a red welt on the other boy's chest.
The boy says he was aiming at a nearby locker, not the other student. He also says he shouldn't have taken his slingshot to school.
Kevin also has to write a 500-word essay about respecting rules. He is now being home schooled.
