Zimmerman's walkoff slam lifts Nats over Phils

Ryan Zimmerman hit a game-winning grand slam run comeback as 4, in the opener of a three-game series.

The Nats entered their final at-bat down 4-2 and facing Ryan Madson (3-2), but quickly went to work. Three straight singles, from Jayson Werth, Danny Espinosa and Jonny Gomes, made it a one-run contest.

Wilson Ramos laid down a sacrifice bunt to move runners to second and third, then pinch-hitter Jesus Flores was given a free pass to load the bases. Ian Desmond singled home Espinosa to tie the game, and after Rick Ankiel fanned swinging, Zimmerman launched a ball into the left-field seats to cap the improbable rally.

Ramos added a solo homer for the Nationals, who have won two straight and four of six.

Todd Coffey (4-1) picked up the win after holding the Phils off the board in the top of the ninth.
