The New York Yankees activated reliever Joba Chamberlain from the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday's Subway Series matchup with the crosstown-rival Mets.
Chamberlain has not pitched since April 27 due to a right oblique strain. Prior to the injury, the right-hander posted a 3.86 earned run average and one save over 9 1/3 innings spanning 10 appearances.
To accommodate Chamberlain's return to the active roster, the Yankees designated recently acquired pitcher David Huff for assignment.
Huff was claimed off waivers from Cleveland on Saturday, but pitched in only one game with the Yankees. The lefty gave up a run while walking two batters in one inning of work in Sunday's 8-3 loss at Tampa Bay.
