NEW YORK (Reuters) - World Series champions the New York Yankees have acquired outfielder Jamie Hoffmann from the Washington Nationals, the club said on Thursday.
The move completed a trade in which reliever Brian Bruney travels in the opposite direction from New York to the capital.
Hoffman was with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season but moved to Washington this week in the so-called 'Rule 5' draft designed for players not on their team's 40-man roster.
The 25-year-old Hoffman was signed as a minor league free agent in 2003 and played for several minor league teams before joining the Dodgers last season.
