Devin McCourty's transition from cornerback to safety late last season has reaped big rewards for New England this year.

In a season rife with defensive injuries and shuffling parts, McCourty's presence in the Patriots secondary has been a vital constant.

He made a huge play Sunday against Miami when he darted to the sideline, leapt in front of an unsuspecting receiver and tipped the ball to his teammate for a crucial fourth-quarter interception.

However, it was just another play for McCourty, who has no interceptions this season but has made an impact in other ways.

"It will probably never happen again, so that's the cool thing about it," McCourty said Thursday. "But moving on from it, and trying to see if we can make another great play this week."

New England (6-2) plays Pittsburgh (2-5) on Sunday.
