Tyler Wiseman scored twice and set up Duncan McKellar's go-ahead goal in leading Canisius to a 5-3 win over top-seeded Niagara in an Atlantic Hockey Association semifinal on Friday.
Tony Capobianco stopped 38 shots, including all eight in the final period, for the seventh-seeded Golden Griffins (18-18-5), who won their seventh straight. Canisius advances to its first tournament final appearance on Saturday, when it will play either Mercyhurst or Connecticut.
McKellar's power-play goal with 20 seconds left in the second period broke a 3-3 tie. Ben Danford and Cody Freeman also scored for Canisius.
Giancarlo Iuorio scored twice and Hugo Turcotte also scored for the Purple Eagles (23-9-5), who still have an opportunity to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament.
