Wild D Spurgeon leaves game
St. Paul, MN – Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon left Monday's contest against the Colorado Avalanche.
Spurgeon was forced out of action at the 5:22 mark of the first period after taking a hard check from behind into the end boards by Colorado's Cody McLeod.
Though injuries consistent with that type of hit suggest an upper-body issue, Spurgeon was instead escorted off the ice by team medical personnel while favoring his left leg.
MacLeod was given a major for checking from behind and a game misconduct.
