Torrion Brummitt scored 14 points and Rhett Harrelson had 11 points with six assists to lead Western Carolina past Chicago State 66-61 in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic tournament on Wednesday night.
Devin Peterson made a pair of free throws to give Western Carolina its largest lead, 48-25, with 14:52 remaining. Chicago State answered with a 23-5 run to pull Chicago State within five points, 53-48, with 6:59 left. James Sinclair scored, Mike Brown hit a trey and the Catamounts shot 8 of 14 from the line to seal it.
Brown finished with 13 points and Justin Browning added 12 for Western Carolina (3-3).
Trayvon Palmer scored 13 points and Clarke Rosenberg had 10 for Chicago State (2-5), which shot just 22 of 61 for 36 percent from the field.
