Malaga, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Malaga captain Weligton has signed a contract extension that ties him to the club until 2015.
Weligton has been at Malaga since joining the club on loan for the 2007-08 season, when he helped the team gain promotion to La Liga.
The 34-year-old made his move from Grasshoppers permanent the next season and he has gone on to feature in over 200 games for Malaga since that time.
The defender started 33 games last term but has yet to feature this season after fracturing his collarbone in preseason.
Weligton is expected to make his return soon and his new contract also gives him the option of extending the deal another two seasons.
