Ogden, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Weber State University named former Utah assistant Jay Hill as its new head football coach on Thursday.
Hill will replace Jody Sears, who was fired last month following a 2-10 season this year.
Hill, 38, has been a member of Utah's staff since 2005, previously serving as a graduate assistant there from 2001-2004. Since 2005, he's coached cornerbacks, special teams, tight ends and running backs at Utah.
"My family and I are so excited to join the Weber State program," Hill said. "There are so many great things in place at Weber State and the tradition, facilities and overall program are primed for success. This is a place we can win and be successful and I can't wait to get started."
Weber State, a Big Sky Conference member, will be adding a new indoor practice facility in October, and has recently made renovations to Stewart Stadium.
Hill was named to the Rivals.com Class of 2009 Top 25 Recruiters list and one of the Top 10 Recruiters in the Pac-12 in 2012.
