Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Golden State Warriors center Jermaine O'Neal will undergo arthroscopic surgery Friday to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, the team has announced.
O'Neal had been playing through the injury, though he sat out Wednesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks due to discomfort in the wrist. A timetable for the 18-year veteran's return will be determined once the procedure is completed.
The 35-year-old, signed by the Warriors in July after spending the previous season with Phoenix, was productive in a reserve role with his new team. Over 17 games, O'Neal was averaging 6.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 18.6 minutes per outing.
In what was likely a related move, Golden State signed center Hilton Armstrong from the club's NBA Development League team in Santa Cruz on Wednesday.
