D.J. Covington scored 20 points and four other Virginia Military Institute players scored in double figures as the Keydets beat High Point 87-74 Thursday night.

The Keydets (13-11, 6-8 Big South Conference) snapped a three-game skid and beat High Point for the sixth straight time. Ron Burks added 17 points, Stan Okoye had 14 while Austin Kenon and Keith Gabriel each contributed 11.

The Panthers (10-14, 6-8) had won four in a row, but were outrebounded 47-30 and outscored 40-18 in the paint. Nick Barbour's 25 points and Shay Shine's 22 led High Point, but their teammates made only 10 of 34 shots from the field and none scored in double figures.

Kenon made 4 of 6 free throws, but the misses were his first since Jan. 15. His layup with 5:40 left equaled the Keydets' biggest lead, 79-59. The Panthers responded with 10 straight points, but came no closer than nine points.
