Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was active for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Peterson's 2-year-old son died Friday in South Dakota from injuries sustained in an alleged assault on Wednesday, police said. The 27-year-old boyfriend of the boy's mother was arrested in the case.
Peterson, who missed practice on Thursday for what the team said were personal reasons, had said he would play Sunday.
Recently signed quarterback Josh Freeman was inactive for the Vikings along with safety Mistral Raymond, linebackers Gerald Hodges and Audie Cole, defensive linemen Chase Baker and Justin Trattou and guard Jeff Baca.
Kicker Blair Walsh, who was questionable with a left hamstring injury, is active.
