London, England – A hat trick from Robin van Persie inspired 3 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, handing the Blues a second successive defeat.
Chelsea dropped a 1-0 contest at QPR last weekend, but took a 2-1 lead into halftime on Saturday with first-half goals from Frank Lampard and John Terry.
But Arsenal ripped open a poor Chelsea defense in the second half with Van Persie netting the go-ahead goal in the 85th minute and completing his hat trick in stoppage time.
The hosts were eager to get off to a good start after a frustrating match last weekend, and Juan Mata's cross found the head of Lampard seven yards from goal to put Chelsea into the lead.
Arsenal answered with Aaron Ramsey playing a nice ball to Gervinho inside the penalty area and the Ivory Coast international left it for Van Persie to slot into an empty net.
But Terry put his team ahead on the stroke of halftime by volleying home a Lampard corner kick from six yards thanks to some poor marking.
The match was level a few minutes into the second half as Andre Santos netted his first Premier League goal for the Gunners, while Theo Walcott put them into the lead by splitting two defenders and beating goalkeeper Petr Cech at his near post.
Mata responded with a nice strike from 25 yards that left goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny with no chance, but it was a mistake in the Chelsea defense five minutes from time that proved vital.
A poor backpass from Florent Malouda was followed by a slip from Terry, allowing Van Persie to round Cech and easily roll the ball into the net.
The Dutchman then capped his afternoon by beating Cech for a third time as he hit Chelsea on the break and smashed a shot past 'keeper at his near post.
Manchester City 3, Wolverhampton 1
Manchester, England - Manchester City collected three more points on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium as the Citizens claimed a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton.
Edin Dzeko broke a scoreless deadlock in the 52nd minute and Aleksandar Kolarov tallied his first goal of the campaign 15 minutes later to put City up 2-0.
Wolves pulled a goal back in the 75th from the penalty spot as Stephen Hunt converted a spot kick following a foul on City's Vincent Kompany which earned the defender a red card.
However, City sealed the win despite playing with 10 men as substitute Adam Johnson scored in the first minute of stoppage time to give his team five successive wins and keep them five points clear at the top of the league.
Manchester United 1, Everton 0
Liverpool, England - Manchester United got a much-needed response on Saturday as the Red Devils secured a 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park.
Following a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City last weekend, United was in need of a win and got one thanks to a 19th-minute goal from Javier Hernandez, giving Sir Alex Ferguson's men their second win in five games.
The Toffees have now lost four of their last five but were a bit unlucky to get nothing from the match as Leighton Baines hit the crossbar and Jack Rodwell was denied by a nice save from United goalkeeper David de Gea.
Liverpool 2, West Bromwich 0
West Bromwich, England - First-half goals from Charlie Adam and Andy Carroll helped Liverpool to a 2-0 win over West Bromwich at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Adam's goal arrived in the eighth minute from the penalty spot after Luis Suarez was fouled inside the area, while Suarez set up Carroll's goal just before halftime by releasing the former Newcastle man in on goal with a nice pass.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last five games and move into fifth place with the victory, snapping a four-game unbeaten streak for the Baggies.
Norwich City 3, Blackburn 3
Norwich, England - Norwich City rallied to score two goals in the last 10 minutes of a 3-3 draw against Blackburn at Carrow Road on Saturday.
Junior Hoilett's goal in first-half stoppage time for Blackburn was the lone tally in the opening 45 minutes, but Steve Morison equalized early in the second half for the hosts.
Goals from Aiyegbeni Yakubu and Christopher Samba a few minutes apart handed Rovers a 3-1 advantage, but Bradley Johnson scored in the 81st minute and Grant Holt converted a last-gasp penalty kick deep into stoppage time to salvage a point.
Sunderland 2, Aston Villa 2
Sunderland, England - A goal from Stephane Sessegnon in the 89th minute handed Sunderland a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Stiliyan Petrov's opener for Villa was canceled out by Sunderland's Connor Wickham, sending the two sides into halftime on level terms.
Villa appeared poised to snatch all three points when Richard Dunne found the back of the net five minutes from time, but Sessegnon popped up in the closing minutes to score from close range, earning his side a draw.
Swansea City 3, Bolton 1
Swansea, Wales - Bolton's poor run of form continued on Saturday as Wanderers dropped a 3-1 decision at Swansea City.
The match entered halftime without a goal but Bolton's Ricardo Gardner was sent off early in the second half, with Swansea capitalizing almost immediately through Joe Allen.
A penalty kick from Scott Sinclair doubled the lead, and although Danny Graham's own goal pulled Bolton back to within one, Graham found the net for his team in stoppage time to secure the win.
Bolton has lost seven of its last eight games to drop to 19th in the league.
Fulham 2, Wigan 0
Wigan, England - Fulham collected its second win of the campaign on Saturday by claiming a 2-0 victory over Wigan at the DW Stadium.
Clint Dempsey's goal late in the first half had the Cottagers in front, while Moussa Dembele's first goal of the season three minutes from time ensured the visitors of three points.
Wigan now resides on the bottom of the table having lost its last seven games after starting the season with five points from three matches.
