Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Maximiliano Urruti's goal gave the Portland Timbers a 1-0 win over DC United on Wednesday night at Providence Park.

The Timbers come into the match aiming to snap a two-match losing streak following a lackluster performance in a 1-0 defeat to Toronto FC on Saturday. United, meanwhile, is winless in two straight after a 1-1 draw against the New England Revolution last week

Portland struck first early in the first half when Urruti took a right footed shot from the left side of the six yard box and found the back of the net to give the Timbers a 1-0 lead.

As for United their best chance in the first half came in the last minute of the first half when Conor Doyle's shot from the centre of the box just went over the cross-bar.

DC United came into the second half putting pressure on the Portland defense, the best chance came in the 77th minute from Facundo Coria whose shot was saved by Timbers keeper Adam Kwarasey. Kwarasey finished the game with a clean slate.
