United's Young out with knee injury

Manchester United winger Ashley Young is expected to be out until mid-October because of a knee injury.

Young suffered bruised cartilage in his knee last month in a match against Fulham, and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said the England international will be for another 2-3 weeks.

The injury means Young is unlikely to feature for England in next month's World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland, while he will miss upcoming Premiership matches against Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle.
