New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Connecticut and Notre Dame were the top teams in the final Associated Press women's college basketball poll.

The defending national champion Huskies went wire-to-wire in the poll, the fifth time they failed to relinquish the top spot during an entire season. UConn went 34-0 and received all 36 first-place votes.

Notre Dame also finished unbeaten in 32 games and was a unanimous choice as the second-ranked team.

Tennessee, Louisville, Baylor, Stanford, West Virginia, South Carolina, Duke and Kentucky comprised the remainder of the top 10. Baylor moved up two spots from seventh after beating West Virginia for the Big 12 title last Monday.

Maryland opened the second 10 and was followed by North Carolina, Nebraska, Penn State, Texas A&M, North Carolina State, Purdue, Gonzaga, Iowa and Michigan State.

The last five teams ranked were Oklahoma State, Middle Tennessee, DePaul, California and Southern California. USC was the lone newcomer, replacing Bowling Green.
