Rome, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Vasilis Torosidis's second-half goal held up as the winner on Monday as AS Roma snuck away with a 3-2 victory over Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico.
The hosts got off the mark quickly as Francesco Totti collected a loose ball on the edge of the box and beat Udinese goalkeeper Simone Scuffet to the bottom left corner of the net for the early advantage.
Roma doubled its advantage on the half-hour mark as Mattia Destro was played through by Gervinho and he fired it home.
Udinese got back into the match in the 50th minute as Giampiero Pinzi made it 2-1, but Torosidis put the hosts back up by two in the 69th minute.
Dusan Basta scored 10 minutes later to pull Udinese to within one, but Roma's back line held firm to collect an important three points.
Also in Serie A on Monday, Gonzalo Higuian scored at the death to hand Napoli a 1-0 victory against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino.
It was an even match for the duration of the 90 minutes as both clubs fired four shots on target, but Napoli had the better of the possession and made their best chance count in the final minute of normal time.
Higuain was put through on goal by a well-placed aerial pass from Marek Hamsik and the Argentina international made no mistake, placing a shot into the roof of the net for the winner.
