The Detroit Tigers released pitcher David Pauley on Monday.
The 28-year-old right-hander came over to the Tigers, along with Doug Fister, from the Seattle Mariners at last year's trade deadline.
After compiling a 2.15 earned run average in 39 appearances for the Mariners, Pauley went 0-2 with a 5.95 ERA in 14 games as a member of Detroit.
Pauley has a 9-18 career record and a 4.52 ERA in 81 games, 20 of which have been starts, over four major league seasons. He has also played for Boston.
The Tigers also placed catcher/designated hitter Victor Martinez on the 60-day disabled list. Martinez is expected to miss the 2012 season with a knee injury that required multiple surgeries. He was hurt during his offseason conditioning.
