LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas could pick up his second major honor in a week when the National Hockey League's annual awards are announced in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Thomas, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Most Valuable Player in the Stanley Cup playoffs, is one of three finalists for the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender.
He is up against Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators and Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks, the team Boston beat 4-3 in the Stanley Cup final.
Daniel Sedin, also of the Canucks, is among the three nominees for the major prize, the Hart Memorial Trophy for the league's MVP. He is up against Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks and Martin St. Louis of Tampa Bay Lightning.
Awards will also be presented to the top defenseman, top rookie and coach of the year, as well as other categories.
