Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - PGA TOUR - WELLS FARGO CHAMPIONSHIP, Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, North Carolina - After a thrilling finish at the TPC Sawgrass, the PGA Tour heads to Quail Hollow for the Wells Fargo Championship.
J.B. Holmes held off Jim Furyk and Jason Bohn to win the title last year. The victory for Holmes was his first since brain surgery to correct Chiara malformations.
Holmes led by three with three holes to play, but carded a pair of late bogeys to trim his lead to one. It was still enough to earn the win.
Bohn had the best chance to catch Holmes, but found water at 17 and closed bogey-bogey to end three shots back.
Holmes, who is ranked 13th in the world, won the Houston Open earlier this year after losing 54-hole leads at the Farmers Insurance Open and WGC-Cadillac Championship. He returns to defend his title and is one of nine players ranked in the top-25 in the world competing this week.
That group is headlined by world No. 1 Rory McIroy, No. 3 Henrik Stenson and No. 5 Furyk.
McIlroy, who coming off a win at the WGC-Cadillac Match Play Championship, is teeing it up at Quail Hollow for the sixth time. He won the title in his first appearance in 2010 and has posted three straight top-10 finishes since missing the cut in 2011.
Stenson has missed the cut the last three times he competed in this event. Furyk won the title back in 2006 and finished second in 2005 and 2014.
Phil Mickelson, the 2010 runner-up to McIlroy, is in the field as well. He has nine top-12 finishes in 11 starts at Quail Hollow. Webb Simpson, Jason Kokrak, Brendon de Jonge, Robert Karlsson, Martin Laird, Kyle Reifers and Johnson Wagner, who are all Charlotte-area residents, will be looking for the hometown win this week.
Golf Channel will have coverage of all four rounds and will hand things off to CBS in the afternoon on the weekend.
The PGA Tour moves to Texas for a pair of events, starting with the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. Adam Scott closed 66-66 last year to get into a playoff, where he birdied the third extra hole to defeat Jason Dufner.
EUROPEAN TOUR
OPEN DE ESPANA, Real Club de Golf El Prat, Barcelona, Spain - For the first time this season, the European Tour is in continental Europe for the Open de Espana.
Miguel Angel Jimenez returns to defend his title. The Spaniard made par on the first extra hole last year to defeat Richard Green and Thomas Pieters to win this title for the first time.
Jimenez trailed Pieters by two entering the final round, but Pieters faltered to a 75, while Jimenez closed with a 73. Green shot 72 in the final round to get into the playoff.
With the victory, Jimenez became the first player over the age of 50 to win on the European Tour.
Including Jimenez, 12 of the last 16 winners of this event are in the field this week. That group includes Spaniards Sergio Garcia, a playoff loser on the PGA Tour last week, and Alvaro Quiros along with Francesco Molinari and Peter Lawrie.
This tournament has had seven playoffs since 2003.

The European Tour heads to Wentworth next week for the BMW PGA Championship, where Rory McIlroy fired a 66 in the final round to rally for the win last year.
CHAMPIONS TOUR
REGIONS TRADITION, Shoal Creek Club, Shoal Creek, Alabama - The Champions Tour kicks off its major championship season this week with the Regions Tradition.
Kenny Perry needed just an even-par 72 in the final round last year to claim the title. Perry won the third straight major in which he competed in, and the title was his sixth on the Champions Tour.
Perry is coming off a playoff loss at the Insperity Invitational. He injured his back during the final round and lost a 3-man playoff when Ian Woosnam birdied the first extra hole.
That tie for second was Perry's first top-10 finish since last year's Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
Tom Lehman, who has tied for second in his last two starts, won this title in 2011 and 2012, and shared third behind Perry last year.
Golf Channel will have live coverage of all four rounds
The Champions Tour will play its second straight major next week as Colin Montgomerie defends his title at the Senior PGA Championship. The Scotsman rolled to a 4-stroke win last year for his first major championship title and first official win in the United States.
LPGA TOUR
KINGSMILL CHAMPIONSHIP, Kingsmill Resort (River Course), Williamsburg, Virginia - After a week off, the LPGA Tour returns to action with the Kingsmill Championship.
Last year, Lizette Salas fired a 6-under 65 in the third round to pull away from the field. She closed with a 71 to win by four strokes. The victory was her first on the LPGA Tour.
Salas has just one top-10 finish since, and that came later last year at the Portland Classic. This season, her best finish was a tie for 11th at the Founders Cup.
The field this week includes nine of the top-10 players in the world, and 16 of the top-20 overall.

After another week off, the LPGA Tour heads to the New Jersey shore for the ShopRite LPGA Classic, where Stacy Lewis rolled to a 6-stroke win in 2014.
WEB.COM TOUR
BMW CHARITY PRO-AM, Thornblade Club, Green Valley Club and The Reserve at Lake Keowee, Greer, Greenville and Sunset, South Carolina - The Web.com Tour returns to action with the BMW Charity Pro-Am.
The event is spread over three courses, like the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the PGA Tour. This year, the Thornblade Club will again be the host course and played in the final round. The other two courses used this week will be the Green Valley Club and The Reserve at Lake Keowee.
Blayne Barber led entering the final round last year, but his 67 was not enough as he shared third place. Max Homa fired a 8-under 63 on Sunday to rally for his first tour title.
Homa has moved on to the PGA Tour and will not defend his title.
Six of the eight winners from this season are in the field this week.
Among the amateurs competing this week are former athletes Tim Wakefield and Jim McMahon, actors Anthony Anderson, Frankie Muniz, Terry O'Quinn and John O'Hurley, as well as Golf Channel's Lisa Cornwell.
A busy Golf Channel will have tape-delayed coverage all week.
After a week off, the tour returns to action with the Rex Hospital Open. Byron Smith fired rounds of 63 and 66 on the weekend last year en route to winning by four strokes over two players.
