The Houston Texans have re-signed inside linebacker Tim Dobbins, the team announced on Friday.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Dobbins will enter his third season as a member of the Texans and saw an increased role in 2012 following a string of injuries to the linebacking corps.

A special teams captain in 2012, Dobbins made six starts for the team last season and amassed 49 tackles, one interception and tied for the league lead with a franchise-record four fumble recoveries.

He too was hit with the injury bug, though, having been placed on injured reserve after hurting his ankle in the regular season finale against Indianapolis.

The 30-year-old, originally drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round of 2006 NFL Draft, has played in a total of 107 games with 20 starts and has totaled 203 tackles, 13 sacks, three interceptions, six forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.
