Texans expect to have better idea of S Reed's status for season-opener by end of week
HOUSTON – The Houston Texans expect to have a better idea of whether injured safety Ed Reed will play in their opener by the end of this week.
Coach Gary Kubiak says Reed visited the surgeon who did his April hip surgery in Vail, Colo. on Monday. He will receive injections in his hip during the visit and then travel Atlanta later this week to continue his rehabilitation.
The Texans wrap up their preseason on Thursday night at Dallas. Kubiak says the team "will have a really good idea" of his status after that game as they begin preparations for the Sept. 9 opener at San Diego.
The 34-year-old Reed also had hip surgery in 2010, causing him to miss the first six games of that season.
