Robert Covington had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Tennessee State rallied from an 18-point deficit to defeat Jacksonville State 68-63 on Thursday night.
Jacksonville State quickly turned a 28-18 halftime lead into an 18-point advantage with 17:58 remaining in the game. But the Tigers made up the difference by shooting 58.3 percent (14 of 24) in the second half and outscored the Gamecocks 50-35 in the final 20 minutes.
The Tigers held only a 27-26 rebounding edge, but turned 10 offensive boards into an 18-8 edge on second-chance points. The Tigers also outscored the Gamecocks 26-14 in the paint.
Kenny Moore added 15 points and Wil Peters had 11 for the Tigers (9-9, 6-2 Ohio Valley Conference), who have won three in a row.
Nick Murphy scored 18 points and Jeremy Bynum chipped in with 17 for the Gamecocks (2-16, 0-8), who have lost 13 straight.
