Khalif Wyatt's layup with 16 seconds left 88 win over Massachusetts.
Jesse Morgan missed a jumper and Maxie Esho's tip on the misfire didn't fall on the Minutemen's ensuing possession. Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson pulled down the rebound to secure the win for Temple.
Wyatt made 17-of-18 free throws en route to 26 points for the Owls (23-6, 12-3 A-10), who got to the foul line an astonishing 40 times, while converting 30 of those attempts. Micheal Eric had a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds and Juan Fernandez added 18.
Chaz Williams filled the stat sheet with 26 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and four steals for UMass (19-10, 8-7), which overcame a 10-point deficit in the final two minutes of regulation to force an extra session.
