Elina Svitolina and Alexandra Cadantu were among Friday's quarterfinal winners at the Baku Cup.

The seventh-seeded Svitolina took down second-seeded Donna Vekic by a 6-2, 6-3 margin.

It's the second straight semifinal appearance for Svitolina, who reached the semis last week in Bad Gastein. She'll face Cadantu in Saturday's semifinals.

The fourth-seeded Cadantu outlasted Kazakhstan's Galina Voskoboeva 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3.

Israel's Shahar Peer cruised past Slovenia's Tadeja Majeric by a 6-0, 6-4 score. Peer has made it past the quarterfinals for the first time this year.

She will next face Polish qualifier Magda Linette, who advanced to her first semifinal match on the WTA Tour when Ons Jabeur, leading 6-3, 4-1, retired with an injury.

This week's champion will receive a first prize of $40,000.
