Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Stroud carded a 4-under 68 on Saturday to jump into a share of the lead at the CIMB Classic.
Ryan Moore, who set the course record on Thursday with a 63 to claim the first-round lead, shot a 3-under 69 to join Stroud atop the leaderboard on Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club's West Course at 12-under-par 204.
Stroud is seeking his first career win on the PGA Tour, while Moore is looking for his third career title.
"I just need to stick to my game plan, keep hitting shots, keep hitting good quality shots, keep putting myself in the right positions, keep hitting good putts, and stick to my strengths, which are chipping, putting and wedges, and get myself in the fairway," Stroud said.
Gary Woodland (67) and Kiradech Aphibarnrat (69) are tied for third place at 11-under, while Jerry Kelly (66) is alone in fifth at minus-10.
Second-round leader Keegan Bradley stumbled to a 4-over 76 during his third round to fall into a tie for sixth place with Graham DeLaet (68) and Stewart Cink (69) at 9-under 207.
Bradley entered the third round with a 4-stroke lead, but Moore quickly cut into that advantage with birdies at the first and third to move to 11-under.
Bradley, who was playing along with Moore, also birdied the third to regain some cushion at 14-under, but followed that with a bogey at the fifth after finding the water to fall back to minus-13.
Moore birdied the fifth to pull within one of the lead and was joined at 12- under by Aphibarnrat, the other member of the final group, as he followed birdies at the third and fourth with an eagle at the fifth.
Moore then birdied the sixth to meet Bradley atop the leaderboard.
Stroud briefly made it a three-way tie for the lead with four straight gains from the fifth before Bradley regained the outright lead with a birdie at the seventh.
But the lead was shortlived as Moore capped back-to-back birdies at the ninth and 10th with a long putt from the fringe to claim the lead at 15-under.
Moore bogeyed the 12th to fall back to 14-under, but was still able to maintain the lead as Bradley tripped to a double bogey at the 12th to drop to minus-12, handing second place to Aphibarnrat at 13-under.
Aphibarnrat had followed his eagle at the fifth with four straight pars before reaching 13-under with a birdie at the 10th.
Moore would then bogey the 13th to fall into a tie for the lead with Aphibarnrat, but used a 4-stroke swing at the 14th to claim a 3-stroke lead as Moore birdied the hole to move to 14-under while Aphibarnrat tripped to a double-bogey 6 to fall to minus-11 and into a tie with Woodland, Stroud and Bradley.
Moore, however, continued to struggle down the final stretch with consecutive bogeys at the 15th and 16th to drop into a tie with Stroud at 12-under. Stroud birdied the 16th to claim his share of the lead.
The duo both parred their final two holes to remain there.
"It was almost two different days out there," said Moore. "I'm rolling it well, and if I'm putting well I'm going to have opportunities."
NOTES: Moore's last win came at the 2012 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open ... With FedExCup points available for the first time at this event, the winner will claim 500 points ... Stroud lost a playoff to Ken Duke at last season's Travelers Championship.
