Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams is on the road to recovery from a stabbing incident over the weekend and his teammates say his situation should serve as a warning.
Adams was stabbed twice during an attempted carjacking early Saturday morning. He underwent surgery and should be ready when the Steelers open training camp at the end of July.
Linebacker Larry Foote doesn't think people should be surprised someone targeted the 6-foot-7, 345-pound Adams, saying a weapon levels the playing field regardless of the size of the attacker. Foote added that players "have to be aware" of their surroundings, particularly late at night.
Second-year lineman Kelvin Beachum filled in at right tackle during organized team activities on Tuesday but says he's only holding Adams' place until he returns.
