Lisbon, Portugal – Sporting Lisbon's unbeaten start continued with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Setubal that included two goals from Fredy Montero.
The result gives Sporting 17 points from its first seven games and the club resides in second place, two points adrift of leaders FC Porto.
Montero fired Sporting in front five minutes before halftime, and the lead was stretched to 2-0 by Andre Carrillo in the 58th.
Another goal from Montero 19 minutes from time put the result beyond reach, while Adrien Silva scored from the penalty spot to cap the scoring in the 75th.
Montero leads the league with nine goals and Sporting's next match will come against first-place Porto after the defending champions won for the sixth time in seven games by downing Arouca, 3-1.
Jackson Martinez scored twice in Porto's win to give him seven goals on the campaign.
Benfica secured a 2-1 win at Estoril with goals from Lima and Oscar Cardozo to remain within five points of Porto in third place.
Friday's lone match saw Rio Ave claim a 1-0 win at Academica after an own goal from Ferreira, leaving Academica second from the bottom in the league table with one win.
Belenenses topped Olhanense, 2-0, with a goal in each half from Miguel Rosa, Gil Vicente held off Pacos Ferreira, 2-1, Nacional collected its fourth win in seven games by beating Braga, 3-0, while Monday's match ended with Guimaraes getting a 1-0 victory over Maritimo thanks to a 78th-minute goal from Marco Matias.
