Seattle Sounders forward Eddie Johnson was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 12 of the 2013 Major League Soccer season.

Johnson, an American international, scored twice on Saturday as he led his club to an impressive 4-2 victory over Western Conference-leading FC Dallas at CenturyLink Field.

Johnson opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Osvaldo Alonso headed a ball over the Dallas defense to Johnson, who out ran his defender and ripped a half volley with his left foot into the lower right corner of the net.

He found the net again in the 62nd minute as Seattle native Lamar Neagle sent a cutting pass between two FCD defenders to find Johnson, who dribbled around Dallas goalkeeper Raul Fernandez and fired it into the center of the goal.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, and radio media.
