Sooners' Newell to transfer
Norman, OK – Calvin Newell, the second leading scorer on the Sooners, will transfer from Oklahoma to a school closer to his hometown of Philadelphia, Pa.
On Thursday, the sophomore guard cited family issues as the reason behind his decision to leave the university.
"We'll definitely miss Calvin," said Oklahoma head coach Lon Kruger. "He's been a key contributor this season and a guy who's scored the basketball for us. However, I respect his decision and the issues he's facing, and certainly wish him the best."
Newell came off the bench in each of the team's first five games this season and averaged 13.0 points per game.
