San Sebastian, Spain – Real Sociedad has signed midfielders Xabi Prieto and Gorka Elustondo to new contracts, as the La Liga club locked up a pair of important players.
Prieto, 28, agreed to a four-year contract extension through 2016-17, while Elustondo, 24, signed a two-year extension that keeps him at the club through the 2014-15 season.
"It's another reason to be happy. This renovation is part of the same project of consolidation meant the renewal of Xabi Prieto," Sociedad sports director Loren said on the club's website.
Prieto has been with Sociedad's first team since 2003, while fellow ex-Spain youth international has been with the first team since 2006. Both were youth players for Sociedad as well.
"Of course I would like to retire at Real and ... I have taken a step further towards that dream," Prieto told the club's website.
Sociedad is unbeaten in its last five games, and has climbed seven points off the foot of the table.
