Istanbul, Turkey (SportsNetwork.com) - Wesley Sneijder's goal in the 85th minute eliminated Juventus from the Champions League on Wednesday and sent Galatasaray into the knockout round with a 1-0 victory at Turk Telecom Arena.
The match was scheduled to take place on Tuesday but was suspended after 31 minutes because of snow and hail.
Juventus needed only a point to finish second in Group B behind Real Madrid, and the Italians looked to be on course as the match entered the final 10 minutes at 0-0.
But Sneijder struck five minutes from time to send the home crowd into a frenzy, putting Galatasaray into the knockout round and dropping Juve into the Europa League.
Despite snowy conditions again on Wednesday the final hour of the contest was played, and Carlos Tevez came close to opening the scoring for the Old Lady shortly before halftime.
The hosts also threatened in the 57th minute when Didier Drogba took a pass from Burak Yilmaz and forced Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to make a one-handed save.
A scoreless draw would have been enough for the visitors, but Sneijder popped up to score a huge goal in the 85th when he got on the other end of a headed pass from Drogba to fire a shot past Buffon from the middle of the penalty area.
